Valencia, 1. nap

 Kedves Olvasóim!

A képzés címe Effective Communication for Teachers. A kurzus szerencsére nem kezdődött túl korán, így szépen elgyalogoltam az iskoláig, amely a történelmi városmagban van. A város már ébredezett és kezdték kivakarni az utcákat a koszból, jó volt az immár tiszta utcákon gyalogolni.

 

A tanfolyam csak hárman vagyunk egy iskolai adminisztrátor hölgy Egerből és egy pályakezdő kolléga Csehországból, a fiatal tanárnőnk pedig pár éve érkezett Bulgáriából. Bemutatták az iskolát, a képzés formáját ismertették velünk, majd mindenki bemutatta az iskoláját, saját környezetét. Ezt előzetes feladatként megadták, így tudtunk rá készülni. Csoportos foglalkozásként hárman kikérdeztük egymást, majd egy másik személyt bemutatva röviden ismertettük iskolai pályafutását. Érdekes volt így. 

 

Délután a várost és a helyi kultúrát mutatták be nekünk, volt kis videó, kis vetítés és sok-sok interakció, kommunikáció, ha már használnunk kell azt a fránya angol nyelvet. Nem tömik a fejünket holmi nyelvtani ismeretekkel, táblázatokkal és rendhagyó ragozással. A kisebb hibákért nem is szólnak, ahol kell, ott javítják a hibáinkat, a cél az, hogy ne féljünk használni az idegen nyelvet. Magabiztosabbak, határozottabbak legyünk, ez egyébként ránk is fér. (Természetesen a helyiekre is, ahogy a tanítás utáni sétámon, nézelődésemen tapasztaltam.)

The title of the course is Effective Communication for Teachers. Fortunately, the training did not start too early, so I was able to enjoy a pleasant walk to the school, which is located in the historic city center. The city was already waking up, and crews had begun cleaning the streets. It was nice to walk through the now spotless streets.

There are only three participants in the course: a school administrator from Eger, Hungary, a novice teacher from the Czech Republic, and our young instructor, who moved here from Bulgaria a few years ago. First, they introduced us to the school and explained the structure of the course. Then each of us presented our school and our own educational environment. This had been assigned as preparatory work, so we had time to get ready for it.

As a group activity, the three of us interviewed one another and then briefly introduced a different participant, presenting their educational background and professional experience. It was an interesting way to get to know each other.

In the afternoon, we were introduced to the city and the local culture. There were short videos, presentations, and plenty of interaction and communication, since we are expected to use that pesky English language after all. They do not overwhelm us with grammar rules, tables, or irregular verb conjugations. They do not even draw attention to minor mistakes; they correct us when necessary, but the main goal is to help us overcome our fear of using a foreign language. The aim is to make us more confident and assertive speakers, which is certainly something we could all benefit from. (Although, judging by my observations during my walk around the city after class, the locals could use a bit of that as well.)
